Nugget Point
Just at the start of the scenic route lies Nugget Point Lighthouse. It sits on a bluff 76m/250m high. From here all the unspoilt and wild beauty of the coastline is fascinating. The waves crash against extending rock pinnacles while massive boulders protruding from the sea are resting areas for fur seals, sea lions, endangered (and world's second rarest) yelloweyed penguins or hoiho, the rare yellowhead or mohua, kaka and gannets.
