Hello,
I was wondering if you could answer a few questions I had on the state of the Heaphy and Leslie-Karamea in early Sept. as I have been unable to find any definitive information anywhere else.
My understand is that there will not be any snow but water levels may be an issue (at least on the Leslie-Karamea - from road-to road so including parts of Wangapeka). Clearly this is all subject to the weather, but is this true?

For people who are relatively fit (although by no means "mountain experts") about how long do you think these tracks will take? What kind of condition are they in? Are the summer-time estimates of 4-5days on the heaphy and 6-7 on the Leslie-Karamea about accurate? How popular are these trails at this time of the year? And, generally speaking, what kind of weather are we most likely to have?

Finally, which would you recommend we take?!

Thanks for your time,
Jonathan Palley
