When applying in New Zealand (NZ) under Skilled Migrant Category (SMC) with the help of Consultancy Firm is fine but it has some advantages

1. The Consultant will make you sign a document saying they are the one to do your SMC application.

2. The Consultant is the one to make (Expression of Interest) EOI online at website https://www.immigration.govt.nz/secure/default.htm , they will make your online registration. In doing this it requires username and password of course, they will safe keep this username and password; they will not tell you this. On this website you can verify the status of your EOI application upon log in whether “submitted or selected”.

3. Once you are selected, you are going to received Invitation to Apply (ITA). You can receive this via email or via hard copy mail. If your consultant chose hard copy mail during fill up of EOI, basically your ITA will be sent to your mailing address. BUT if the mailing address declared by the consultant is their mailing addresses not yours, they are the one to receive this hard copy mail not you. If your consultant chose to send this via email, you will receive this via email BUT if your consultant declared their email address not yours, you will not receive this email. In ITA letter, stated what are the requirements you need to prepare and some tips how to arrange this in sending to China and who is your VO and their email address so can email them if you have inquiries. Since you make your consultant to this application in your behalf, sometimes your inquiries will not be entertained. And how can you make inquiries if you don’t know how to communicate with your VO since you did not receive your ITA letter.

4. Upon submission of all requirements needed on ITA, you can inquire again online on the same website whether your application was received and the date you lodged your application. Of course you need to log in again to do this, AND how can you log in if you don’t know your username and password. Again, your consultant knows your username and password.

Since you are not the only applicant of your Consultancy Firm, sometimes they forget you specially if you are paid already or sometimes in reverse case, they will not update you because they requires you to pay first.

If you have some questions about your application, just ask this forum. A lot of consultant is available here, free of charge.

Hi Ado,

You are very right with what you've written in your post. This is my dilemma. My agent doesn't like to give me my account details. Had I known that there is a forum and e-group like this I would have not hired an agent.

I have learned from this forum and e-group about the user name and password to inquire the status of my application. I immediately spoke to my agent and she refused to give me. Instead she said "mam balewala na po yung account na yun kasi nasa ITA stage na po kayo". Ofcourse, I did not believe her because I have been reading and learning so much from this forum.

I want to email my VO to tell him that I terminated my contract with my agent and that he could directly communicate with me regading my application. I would talk to my agent and tell her that I could no longer afford to continue with their services and would rather terminate my contract with her.

My question is this: In the event that she would still refuse to give me my username and password, would that affect my application? Could I still pursue my application even without the username and password?

I am now waiting for interview invite and I lodged my ITA last May 23, 2008. My VO is ML and my agent sent me a letter that I could expect the decision of my application by NOvember 26, 2008.

I would highly appreciate your advise on this matter.

Thank you very much in advance.

Hi Anna,

This is my suggestion, make an email with ML. Stating what you mentioned about termination of contract with your agency. But on the subject of the email make your application number and EOi number as subject ex. Subject: "Application number 124546, EOI number 44562 contact update"

On the body of your letter please make it clear that ML will not contact anymore your agency instead it would be you...state the reason why..don't make him feel that you are escaping from your resposibility on the agency.... give him your email and updated contact number.

ML is very accomodating as per experience of my two co-employee. He is now promoted as visa manager from previous position as visa officer. His subordinate is TK. ML handle mostly...complicated application.
