I'm looking for some cool travel mates for late Dec. / all of January for both islands of NZ. I will be in Fiji from early Dec. until about Christmas, then heading to NZ for New Years. I'm 22, just graduated from Penn State and just looking to have some fun before starting the real world. I was in NZ for 3 weeks 2 years ago, and am somewhat familiar with it, but want to see much more. Let me know if anyone is interested, thanks.

-Andy

Hey Michelle, I'd suggest getting out of Auckland as soon as you can. When I was there before, it just seemed like such a huge city and very anti-New Zealand, from the image I imagined anyway. Just outside the city there are some nice parts, but I stayed right downtown at the Fat Camel hostel, which was pretty sketchy. I traveled mostly the South Island, skipping straight to Wellington (which is an awesome city, in contrast) for a few days then taking the ferry across to Picton. Nelson is a great town on the north of the South Island, and Wanaka and Queenstown are cool. Milford Sound is an absolute must, stay at the hostel there, one of the coolest off-the-beaten path places I've been. Let me know what your plans are, I'm gonna be traveling solo and am up for anything!
